My name is Sonya Howell, MS, LMFT #102921. I have been working in the field of human services for over 20 years, and have been a licensed clinician for 3 years. I have an extensive background in, early childhood education, special education, and mental health. Specific to mental health, my experience includes but is not limited to trauma, sexual abuse/ assault, domestic violence, substance abuse, child welfare, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, issues with intimacy, cultural issues, and postpartum. My approach is strength based and derives from many different modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution focused therapy, short term therapy, trauma informed therapy, etc.
As a therapist, I strive to help my clients whether through individual, group, family, or couples therapy, to become more self-aware and learn ways to cope with and navigate through struggles creating barriers to living a more satisfactory life. I believe that self-awareness is the pathway to empowering one to further develop areas of strength and identify areas where growth is necessary.

I have worked with individual from different socioeconomic backgrounds and variety of cultures. I specialize in Trauma, Anxiety and Depression.
